Lady in the Lake is a limited television series on Apple TV+, which premiered on July 19, 2024. The series is based on the novel by Laura Lippman.
Synopsis[]
In 1960s Baltimore, an investigative journalist working on an unsolved murder clashes with a woman working to advance the agenda of the city's black community. The protagonist ditches her doting husband and big Pikesville home to pursue a career as a newspaper reporter. She becomes obsessed with unraveling the mystery of two separate killings: eleven-year-old Tessie and a bartender named Cleo Sherwood.

Production[]
Casting[]
The miniseries was approved in March 2021, with Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong'o set to star, and Alma Har'el directing all episodes. In April 2022, Y'Lan Noel, Mikey Madison, and Brett Gelman joined the cast. By May 2022, Nyong'o had exited the series, and Moses Ingram was cast as her replacement in June. Additional cast members Noah Jupe, Mike Epps, Byron Bowers, Josiah Cross, and Pruitt Taylor Vince were added in July of 2022.

The series was filmed in Baltimore, Maryland. Filming started in April of 2022.
