Reggie Robinson is a character in the Lady in the Lake novel and in the adapted television series, of the same name. In the TV series, they are portrayed by Josiah Cross.
Biography[]
Reggie is Shell Gordon's right-hand man and is first seen with a black eye in the pet store, engaging in conversation with Tessie. As Shell's enforcer, Reggie operates within the criminal underworld that Cleo is also entangled with. His role at Shell's nightclub involves overseeing operations and ensuring Shell's control over the illicit activities.
Suspected in Tessie's Death[]
Reggie learns that the police suspect him of being involved in Tessie's murder. In response to the increasing pressure, he asks Cleo to deliver cash for a hit on Myrtle Summer, a political figure who poses a threat to Shell's operations. This request places Cleo in a perilous situation, as she becomes unknowingly involved in a plot that leads to a chaotic shootout.
Involvement with Cleo's Death[]
Reggie, under pressure from Shell, is tasked with the job of killing Cleo. He calls Cleo, gives her a winning number, and tells her to leave by Christmas Day. Troubled by his mission, Reggie arranges to meet Cleo early on Christmas morning to collect his share of the money. On Christmas Eve, he watches Cleo and Slappy from his car, distressed by what he must do. Ultimately, Reggie moves a body to a lake and hides as the police apprehend Stephen nearby.
Later, during a conversation with Maddie, Reggie inadvertently reveals his connection to Cleo and Dora Carter, Cleo’s best friend. He is accused by Slappy, at Cleo's funeral, of being complicit in Cleo’s death.
Eventually, it is revealed that Reggie helped orchestrate the ruse of Cleo’s death by dressing Dora’s body (Cleo's friend who actually died) in Cleo's clothes and placing it in a public setting to mislead everyone into believing Cleo was dead. This was intended to protect Cleo from further dangers and allows her to escape her old life in Baltimore with the rigged lottery money.
Finally, Reggie also confesses to the murder of Cleo and goes to jail. Slappy gets released from jail after he gets arrested.
